Reflection

Kia orana, talofa lava and greeting to all you readers.

Today my class have been reflecting this term!
As an Rm 8 Student, I have been learning so much
throughout this term. In my class I have been
blogging and sometimes taking a lot to my friends
witch distracts them from doing their  work.

In Room 8
I had lots of great experiences by blogging every
piece of work on some days. I have now realized that
blogging can be really fun if you just be creative in
some way.

Maori language week

Firstly: Last week on Friday the 13th of
September 2019 Tamaki Primary School was
celebrating Maori language week on a bright,
hot, sunny day.

Secondly: When the assembly started the
kapa haka group did a special dance to
welcome the guest to our school. After the
kapa haka group did their amazing dance we
sang the national anthem.

Thirdly: When we sang the national anthem
it was Room 1,2,3 and Room 4 turn to do
their item. While they were doing their item
I was shocked because they danced to five
songs witch was pretty AWESOME!

In Addition: But then I was nervous,
scared and their was even butterflies
in my stomach because it was my classes
turn. When we finished the dance I was
relived and glad that it was over because
I can sometimes be shy when I am not with
my friend and family.

that dance in front of the school and it was
AWESOME!!

Last of all: But then it was the kia toa

and getting ready.

Tivaevae

                       Tivaevae
The word tivaevae means patches.
It is pieces of material sewn
together. The Tivaevae are either
made by one woman or can create
in groups. Groups called vainetini.
The women use this time to bond,
sing and to catch up. Tivaevae are
often given on very special occasions
to important visitors, birthdays and
wedding gifs or used to cover the
body of a loved one who has died.
Tivaevae’s are often displayed during
special events like traditional hair
cuttings.

By custom, a tivaevae's value is said
to reflect by the love and patience
that the creator put into making
their stunning work of art. Cook
Island women describe their
tivaevae as being something from
the heart. Each tivaevae is unique
and different. No tivaevae is ever
the same. How you can tell the
difference is in the stitch.
My grandmother has a passion
for making, cutting and stitching
tivaevae's. She is one of the head
lady in her vainetini groups.

In our class, we made our version
of a tivaevae. This reflects us as a
class and the love and respect we
have for my culture and all of the
cook island people.

Thank you, kia orana, Meitaki Ma’ata.

Making Keke
Last week On a bright, steaming hot day Room 8 successfully made
some yummy small round panikeke with sugar, flour,
yeast, warm water, baking powder and milk powder. First went down
to the hall to make panikeke. First we grabbed a small cup
and poured two cups of warm water and two cups of milk. Then we
added one cup of brown sugar and three teaspoons of yeast.
After that Mrs. Tafea stirred it all together and left it there until the
yeast was ready. Next we got a big bowl and measured 12
cups of flour and then we added 12 teaspoons of baking powder.  Then
we mixed the wet and dry ingredients together Then we
covered the bowl with a white cloth and left it there until the mixture
started rising. Finally we got to cook the panikeke and
janine put one big pot on the steaming hot oven and poured one bottle
of canola oil on it. When it the oil started bubbling
Mrs. Tafea
took a handful of the mixture and put it onto the hot steaming oil so
it can cook. She repeated the same thing until all the dough
was gone. At last we got to enjoy the round brown sweet panikeke.
It was hot,moist and delicious.

The hare and the tortoise

Image result for hare and tortoise

Once upon a time in aForest was a blue, fluffy hare who always gossiped about being the fastest than the other animals. One day there was a kind, intelligent, brave, tortoise walking by with a strong brown shell on its back. The haer saw the tortoise and started to mock it because of its slowness, after a while the tortoise looked at the haer and said “I’ll challenge you to a race” and the hare said ok deal” so they both walked to the race track and the race began. 3.2.1 GO!! So off they ran. Taking first place was the fluffy, blue hare. A few moments later the haer saw a big, enormous, tall tree and decided to have a little nap while the tortoise was still making its way. 10 minutes later the tortoise went passed the haer and carried on walking to the finish line. Then he ofishally finally reached the end of the race and then other animals saw him and started to cheer loudly and accidentally woke the hare up. So the haer woke up and ran as fast as it could but it was too late because the tortoise had already won because.SLOW AND STEADY WINS!!

Magic snow!!

            Magic snow.
Crystal’y magic snow, on Wednesday morning Room 8 students did a science experiment about magic snow and I was very excited!

P1
Firstly, Ms Bracey explained history of the magic snow and Room 8 students were listening. One of the things Ms Bracey said was the WARNING so none of us tried eating the snow. The powdery product in the smaller package is called polymer that companies use for diapers.

P2
Secondly, after Ms Bracey explained we followed her instructions. The materials we got was a plastic cup that was transparent, ½  a cup of water, scissors and the magic snow.

P3
Thirdly, we played with the magic snow just in case it was dried, next we cut the package open and grabbed the smaller package inside that had the product. We got the scissors and cut it open, after we cut it open we put the magic snow into a transparent cup. When we did that we waited for Ms Bracey to give each group ½  a cup of cold water from the tap.

P4
Finally, Ms Bracey gave the groups  ½ a cup of water and then we poured it in the snow, when we put the water inside the snow it started rising like orbeez, ( little balls from the $2.00 shop). Room 8 finished the science experiment and started to play with the final results of the magic snow, the magic snow felt like  squishy, soft, cotton candy!

Chatterbox!!

  Title
          Making a chatterbox.
                   WALT:Use our listening skill
Introduction
I was very curious about what we were doing in the morning on
Wednesday the 5th of September.
                                        P1
Firstly, Ms Bracey tore 1 piece of paper from the magazine then
passed it around in a circle. After Ms Bracey passed the paper from
the magazine she           passed the scissors.
                                        P2
Secondly,  Ms Bracey explained to us what to do and we followed
her instructions. Furthermore we folded the paper into a large
triangle then we cut the bottom of the piece of paper then we
discarded it into the paper bin. Next we unfolded the paper then
grabbed the corners and put it to the middle, then we flipped it
around and put the corners to the middle then the chatterbox was
made.

                                         P3
Last of all, when we made it we took photos and some of us even
made tiny ones!! Room 8 finished the final results of the chatterbox
then did a recount about it and explained about how to make one.
